Three representatives of Blue Peco visited East Timor on a Fair Trade Coffee Study Tour that was conducted from August 19th to August 26th.
The students who participated in the visit to East Timor are a part of a student independent learning group named Blue Peco. Blue Peco is supporting and promoting fair trade in Japan, and our students got the opportunity to experience what the coffee farmers’ lives are like in the highlands of East Timor for a day.
In addition, they visited local elementary schools and distributed textbooks that were collected in a charity event.
The students who visited East Timor gained a lot from this experience and it has become a huge opportunity for the whole school to think about local communities from around the world and what kind of support should be done in Japan to help them.
