Bible Class

Learning the Bible as a Textbook for Life

The objective of Bible class is to gain a proper understanding of the Bible. The Bible is the greatest of all the world’s classics. It was one thousand years in the making, and has been read by people of every nation in the last 2000 years. By learning the Bible properly, we can learn the true meaning of Christianity, the most widespread religion on the Earth.
The Bible tells us that the world is being held and led by the true God, who never changes. It also teaches us the meaning of life, righteousness, love, and what we should learn in order to live right and be blessed. By learning the Bible we learn more about our God-given mission.

Japanese

Understanding the Correct Use of Words and Cultivating the Ability to Express Oneself

The purpose of Japanese class lies in "cultivating the ability to read and understand and acquiring the power of expression." In order to achieve this goal, emphasis is placed on building reading ability for recent and modern literature as well as classics, with the ultimate goal of developing students’ interest in Japanese culture as a whole. We offer various programs from foundation to application.

History, Geography, and Civics

From Familiar Things to the World

We want students to know the joy of learning world history, modern history, geography, and Japanese history, and to become interested in these topics.
Students are not simply memorizing pieces of information; they are gaining a fundamental overview of social phenomena from three main perspectives: history, developed over the flow of time; geography, making evident the features of the region; and civics, viewing things through social constructs, such as politics or economics.
In the special elective courses, students can investigate matters for themselves, through introduction to investigative study, reports, discussions, and presentations and learn to take responsibility for society in the future by learning the ability to study independently, analyze issues, think logically, and express themselves.

Mathematics

Mathematics is Culture

Our predecessors spent a long time and a great deal of effort developing mathematics.
We train our students in the essentials of mathematics while reminding them that we are learning mathematics as a "culture." Mathematics is compulsory for the first two years. By learning basic mathematical skills in class, they are learning flexible, logical thinking and creativity. Students use this knowledge they have acquired to develop their own problem-solving ability.
There are a wide variety of third-year elective classes, from basic practice to advanced content.

Science

Level-Headed Analyses and Comprehensive Conclusions

There are many problems in modern society, and not only environmental issues. Sometimes science is blamed for this.
Is this true? We analyze the issues in a level-headed manner and search for solutions in words anyone can understand. In Science, students learn the basic knowledge to do that, and develop comprehensive critical ability.
The most important thing in Science is learning about nature. We emphasize experimentation and observation and provide as much time as possible for these activities.

Health and Physical Education

The Mind and Body Growing Strong Together

It is up to the Senior High School students to learn character building that will support them later in life. In Physical Education, students learn exercises that can last a lifetime. We aim to train them in the practical ability to preserve and improve their own health.
In Health, students learn practical health and safety management using examples from the world around them.

English

A Good Tradition in Keeping with "English Aoyama"

Developing interest in various pursuits by learning English increases people who are able to contribute to society and set their sights on wider society, crossing national and cultural differences.
Compulsory classes are divided into levels of difficulty, with consideration given to students being able to learn English at a pace suitable to their own level.
We also offer a wide variety of elective classes to accommodate the needs of each student, such as expression classes, in which English is used as a tool to write newspaper articles, etc., classes that specialize in literature and classes for reading articles in Time or Newsweek.
In these classes, we are building a foundation in English needed for studying at university in the future.

Home Economics

Practical Learning about Life in General

Senior high school years are said to be the preparatory stage from adolescence to becoming independent. In Home Economics, we want to give students the opportunity to not only learn vital life skills and a basic knowledge of clothing, food, and homemaking but also the opportunity to focus on various issues surrounding home economics today to raise their self-awareness as people who live independently and to think about how they want to live their lives. Through this, students acquire the ability to design their own lifestyle.
In the practical classes on making clothing and cooking, we try to allow as much time as possible on projects.

Art

Enriching the Heart

In Music class, students are taught not to close their eyes or ears to things they do not know or like, but to appreciate its merits with intelligence, sensitivity, and imagination, while respecting those who love it.
Art builds on the foundation laid in the Junior High School. Students encounter a variety of materials, develop their sensitivity and creativity, improve their individual ability, and develop a wide range of expression.

Information Technology

Enabling the Inquisitive Mind to Make Accurate Judgments

Students acquire knowledge and skills centered on the three pillars mentioned below.
Throughout that process, we also want students to learn interpersonal communication in this subject.
(1) Learning the importance of data processing and what to be aware of
(2) Learning data processing as a tool, the structure of hardware, and the uses of software
(3) Learning by experimentation how to solve problems and investigate a topic based on (1) and (2).
