The Legnani (Italy) and Leys (UK) short-term exchange programs
report

In September, we welcomed students from Legnani High School in Italy, and in October we welcomed students from the Leys School in the UK as part of our short-term exchange programs.

In these exchange programs, students from our partner schools visit for about two weeks, attend classes at school, experience Japanese life and culture, and stay with our students. In 2020, our students will go and stay with the families of the students they hosted.

From September 3rd to 17th, we welcomed 11 students from Legnani High School, a national school 20km away from Milan. While in Japan, the Italian and Japanese students shared many activities and memories together, such as a welcome party, touring famous and historical areas such as Kamakura, and holding an Italian booth and Italian language lesson during the school festival.

From October 18th to November 1st, we welcomed four students from the Leys, a public school in Cambridge, UK. This exchange is now in its 24th year! As well as attending classes, welcome parties, and experiencing the sights and culture of Tokyo, Aoyama Gakuin students, Leys students, and other long-term exchange students held an “International Sweets Festival” event.

Moreover, with the help of the Cooking Club and the Tea Ceremony Club, everybody could experience making Japanese sweets and joining a Japanese tea ceremony.

Our students will visit the UK in January, and Italy in March.
