Super Global High School Presentations
report

On Saturday, November 30th, we held presentations in the Aoyama Gakuin High School PS auditorium to show some of our Super Global High School activities and achievements.

The first part of this event started with student presentations on the Miyako, East Timor, and Philippines programs. Student representatives from the Miyako, East Timor, and Philippines programs each gave a presentation about what they learned from their visits and spoke about what can be done to contribute to the programs in the future.

In the second part of the event, five students presented about their 3rd year writing thesis. These presentations were summarized versions of their original essays.

(Thesis titles)

  • In a country that has chosen pacifism, what does Japan expect from the Self-Defense Force?

  • Towards a Minority-friendly society: legal and cultural perspectives

  • The structure of religious conflict: what can be done to eliminate religious conflicts

  • The importance of education in breaking the poverty cycle.

In the third part, a representative of the 3rd year Oral Communication elective class gave a presentation in English entitled “Super Power of Fantasy” about Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai.

Following this, there was a panel talk session, also in English. Five students discussed various issues connected to the main themes of the school’s “Super Global High School” program.

The students gave honest, unique, and unrehearsed opinions on a range of complicated global issues. It gave us a lasting impression of how enthusiastically the students have embraced SGH activities and gives us optimism for how the youth of Japan will interact with and contribute to their communities on a local and a global stage.
