SGH Orientations
report

On April 8th our new first-year students were given an SGH orientation in the PS auditorium. On April 10th, there was another SGH presentation given to all grades.

The first-grade orientation started with a Civics teacher and she talked about the light and darkness caused by "globalization" and the need to think about what our globalization aims are. Next, students watched the movie “Did You Know 2.0” which was about the uncertainty of the future. Rapid change is occurring all over the world, due to the development of technology and AI, so we have to be aware of what we need to do and what we should learn.

This movie was followed by a video presentation, made by our student study groups, which recognized the challenges, explored solutions, and conveyed the joy and importance of learning together with our peers.

The whole orientation focused on exploratory learning and how we can deepened our understanding of the world. At the same time, we were pleased to have Mr. Amane Tsuchimoto, a graduate of our school who is currently working in the JICA International Cooperation Human Resources Department, talked about the importance of asking questions, which is the foundation of all research activities.

In the second half of the orientation, four students who just finished writing a research presentation this month talked about their research theme. They shared their enthusiasm for future research activities while having panel talks with Mr. Tsuchimoto.

This year we will also have various SGH programs in our high school. We hope our students will actively participate in these programs and that they will take a step towards becoming globally-minded.
