report

During Global Week II we held Special Chat Room and a workshop with Mr. Eisuke Kanda from the NGO "Friends with the Voiceless," and Mr. Kanou Yamamoto and Ms. Kazuko Yamamoto, former UN officials. They held a workshop to help students experience “Persistent Synchronized Pressure in a Takotsubo Society." The goal was to increase our students’ knowledge about "global peacebuilding and international community revitalization."

―Special Big Chat Room―

We invited ten international students from Aoyama Gakuin University to exchange opinions with our students, during a special Big Chat Room, on the theme of "community and volunteering." They exchanged opinions on the communities they belong to, such as family, friends, and school communities and about volunteering for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

― “Persistent Synchronized Pressure in a Takotsubo a Society” Workshop―

We invited Mr. Eisuke Kanda from the NGO "Friends with the Voiceless" and he carried out a workshop. He shared his knowledge about the existence of persistent synchronized pressure in Japanese society; how we are blindly following those pressures and not holding an opinion of your own. After all, we discussed and shared the importance of managing to live in accordance with own beliefs, and presenting concrete actions and activities that students can do to contribute to community revival.

― “Peacebuilding and International Community Revitalization in terms of UN” Workshop ―

Four high school students served as facilitators, holding lectures and discussions with former UN officials Mr. Yamamoto and Ms. Yamazaki. They talked about what skills and knowledge are required of international leaders, including such topics as the establishment and purpose of UN agencies. They also shared their specific experiences across the seven countries they have worked in. At the end of the workshop, they generously answered various questions from the students in an easy-to-understand manner.
