Global Week I 2019
report

Global Week I was held from June 17th through June 22nd, with “Our Neighbors” being chosen as this year’s theme.

It was the most event-filled Global Week to date, and was actively attended by students.

Speakers at daily chapel focused on a variety of topics connected to the “Our Neighbors” theme.

Assistant Dean Dr. Kawami from the junior college and Mr. Oda from Asia Christian Education Fund (ACEF) were the two featured guest-speakers.

Student-led activities were the Global Showcase, Philippines Day, Coffee tasting event, NO food waste game, Volunteer Club information session, and an awareness-raising event for the Special Olympics.

Additionally, Aoyama Gakuin University Chat Leaders helped lead a Special Chat Room focusing on Food Waste/Food Loss, giving participating students the chance to explore these topics in English.

The F.O.R. Group, comprised of our high school graduates and other Aoyama Gakuin University students, organized a workshop centering on opportunities for taking part in projects in disaster-stricken areas in Japan.

The week’s activities allowed students an invaluable opportunity to reexamine their perspectives on coexistence and neighborliness.

It was also afforded the chance to consider within the Servant Mind framework what each student can do on behalf of society as an individual.
