April 3rd Shibuya Tour
report

On April 3rd, 2016 we had several Thai students from Aoyama Gakuin University join a group of our High School students on a walking tour of the Shibuya area.

This walking tour was conducted, as a part of our Super Global High School Program, with the purpose of learning more about tourism and what can be done to make Japan more foreign friendly.

Shibuya is a very familiar area to our students but during our walking tour, led by the High School’s Geography Department, the students were provided lectures about key points in the Harajuku area.

After returning to the school, the students discussed the best places they saw and learned about on the tour, the worst things they noticed, and finally some solutions to making Japan more foreign friendly.

Though the groups held various opinions, there were still several views that they all held in common.

Based on those opinions, our visiting Thai students compared Bangkok to Tokyo and all the students tried to find solutions to what needs to be done to improve Japan in the future.

It was very clear by the end of this project that the students had gained a new awareness of their surroundings, had heard and pondered many different views, and had made good use of this quality time with their new friends.
