On January 18th, 2017 a representative from the Finnish Embassy held a lecture at our school.
We were very happy to welcome Mr. Markus Kokko, the Counsellor, Press & Culture from the Finnish Embassy, as our second embassy guest lecturer.
This one hour lecture began with a 30 minute PowerPoint presentation and video about Finland. This lecture mainly focused on how successful the Finnish education system is and how great a country Finland is to visit or to study in.
During the second half of the lecture Mr. Kokko answered questions that the students had written before the lecture began.
Mr. Kokko’s lecture about Finland’s education system was very interesting. Students heard about their high educational standards, their rankings in PISA, the high level of cooperation between teachers and the general public, and what kind of society Finland is aiming for.
Mr. Kokko also answered questions about Finish cuisine, policies on basic income and taxes, and also spoke about many other facts of interest about Finland.
