We held a Special Chatroom and a Volunteer Club workshop
【Global WeekⅠ】
report

During Global Week I we conducted various programs during chapel time, lunch break, and after school hours.

-Special Chatroom-

During Global Week I, special Chatrooms were held every day from June 16th to 26th.

The theme was "Hunger" and "Food Waste". Through various questions and conversations with the chat leaders, our students had time to think about poverty and hunger, which is a problem both in Japan and around the world.

Also, during the lunch break on June 19th, an extra large special Chatroom was held.

Five American high school students, who came to visit our school for 2 weeks, joined ten chat leaders from various countries, and opinions were exchanged with our students about "Hunger" and "Food Waste".

There were many surprising discoveries in the course of discussions, such as that there are different points of view depending on what country the speaker was from and the common problems that exist in all the countries represented.

- Workshop by the Volunteer Club-
During lunch break, on the final day of Global Week I, a workshop was hosted by the Volunteer Club.

Currently, the Volunteer Club carries out support activities in many Asian countries such as Bangladesh, the Philippines, Nepal, and Cambodia. Through collecting old stamps and postcards and selling handicrafts at the cultural festival, they support their cause. During this activity, the students exhibited the problems that each country faces and how they are supporting them. They did this by giving a presentation which was followed by a quiz.

On that day, as many as 132 students gathered and deepen their understanding of what they can do to support these countries in Asia.

Another activity from Aoyama Gakuin University included a booth to introduce Shanti Shanti and their goal to build homes in India. A library campaign was also held with readings to help students think about coexistence and human rights.

Although it was a full week, we all got a chance to learn a lot at each event and lay the foundation of being servant-minded.
