We carried out a food drive
report

On November 28th, students participated in a Food Bank Project. Students held a presentation and started a food drive.

During Global Week I, we held a special Chat Room to discuss the theme of ‘food waste’ and from this, the idea of a Food Bank Project began.

After this Chat Room, several students came together and officially formed the Food Bank Project.

Students took charge of the project from the beginning, and held several meetings to discuss the project’s possible directions.

In September, they visited the office of "Second Harvest Japan", an organization that conducts activities concerning food waste, food shortages, and food banking. Following this, in the second step of the project, they started a food drive.

On the Monday, the Food Bank Project members gave a presentation to their fellow students about the connected issues and explained about the goals of the project.

Then, from Tuesday to Friday, many students from all year groups brought food from their homes to send to Second Harvest Japan.

The food will become part of Second Harvest Japan’s food bank, which distributes food to places such as orphanages, women’s shelters, community centers, soup kitchens, as well as to individuals in need.
